  I'm currently at a loss for what to do my next post over... I think I'll look into maybe The Theater....for those who haven't read the story I'll post the link here:

The Truth of Slenderman

 

  Slenderman is a humanoid creature that first came to light on the something awful forums. The post was made for people to make creepy and paranormal images, many lost to time, but one in particular stood out.

  Somehow, this seemed to fascinate many of the thread's visitors, and the creature portrayed in the image was later given the name Slenderman.
  People started to make their own Slenderman images and post it to the board, some of which I've posted below:

  Soon, came the infamous Der Großmann and Der Ritter woodcuts, supposedly dating from 18th century Germany.

  Der Großmann, in German, means the tall man or the large man; while Der Ritter means The Knight. Many have claimed these to be proof of Slenderman existing for hundreds of years instead of the 7 it actually is.
   Soon after, someone posted a supposed German folktale about Slenderman entitled simply The Tall Man.

THE TALL MAN

  Once upon a time there were twin girls, Stela and Sorina. They were brave little girls, and had no fear of the dark, nor of spiders and other crawling things. Where other young ladies and even young boys would cower, Stela and Sorina would walk with their heads held high. They were good girls, obedient to their mother and father and to the word of God. They were the best children a mother could ask for, and this was their undoing.

  One day, Stela and Sorina were out with their mother gathering berries from the forest. Their mother bid them stay close to her, and they listened, as they were good children. The day was bright and clear, and even as they walked closer to the center of the forest the light barely dimmed. It was nearly bright as noon when they found the tall man.

  The tall man stood in a clearing, dressed as a nobleman, all in black. Shadows lay over him, dark as a cloudy midnight. He had many arms, all long and boneless as snakes, all sharp as swords, and they writhed like worms on nails. He did not speak, but made his intentions known.

  Their mother tried not to listen, but she could no more disobey the tall man than she could forget how to breathe. She walked into the clearing, her daughters shortly behind her. "Stela," she said, "take my knife, and cut a circle on the ground big enough to lie in." Stela, who was not afraid of the tall man, nor afraid of the quiver in her mother's voice, obeyed what her mother said. "Sorina," the mother said, "take the berries and spread them in the circle, and crush them underfoot until the juice stains the earth." Though Sorina wondered why her mother asked her to do such a thing, she obeyed, because she was a good girl.

  "Stela," the mother said, "lie in the circle."

  Stela, though she worried she might stain her clothes, did as her mother asked.

  "Sorina," the mother said, and bid Sorina cut her sister open with the knife.

  Sorina could not; would not.

  "Please," her mother said. "If you don't, it will be worse. So much worse."

  But Sorina could not, and she threw the knife away and ran home, crying. She hid under her bed, afraid for the first time in her life. She waited until her father came home from the fields, and told him of the terrible thing she had found in the woods. Her father comforted her, and told her she would be safe. He went to the woods, his axe in hand, and as he commanded, she stayed by the hearth, waiting for his return.

  After some time she fell asleep. When she woke, it was to the sound of knocking on her door at the darkest hour of the night. "Who is there?" she said.

  "It is your father," the knocker said.

  "I don't believe you!" said Sorina.

  "It is your sister," the knocker said.

  "It cannot be!" said Sorina.

  "I am your mother," said the knocker, "and I told you it would be worse." And the door, locked tight before her father left, fell open as if it had been left ajar. And her mother stepped in, her sister's head clutched in one bloody hand, her father's in the other.

  "Why?" wept Sorina.

  "Because," said her mother, "there is no reward for goodness; there is no respite for faith; there is nothing but cold steel teeth and scourging fire for all of us. And it's coming for you now."

  And the tall man slid from the fire, and clenched Sorina in his burning embrace. And that was the end of her.

  This is also fake, and while The Black Forest (Schwarzwald) is a real place in Germany, there is no proof of anything like this ever happening.

  Also, it lacks the structure of traditional German folktales, as there is no true moral. Sure, it may maintain the grotesque qualities, but apart from that, it is highly flawed.

  Now, this is not to say I don't like Slenderman. I'm a fan of the games and love Creepypastas written about him, but sadly he is nonexistent.

The Truth of Suicidemouse.avi

 

  Suicidemouse.avi is a supposedly cursed video that's been surfing around the internet. For those unaware, here's the original story.

  So do any of you remember those Mickey Mouse cartoons from the 1930s? The ones that were just put out on DVD a few years ago? Well, I hear there is one that was unreleased to even the most avid classic Disney fans.

  According to sources, it's nothing special. It's just a continuous loop (like Flintstones) of Mickey walking past six buildings that goes on for two or three minutes before fading out. Unlike the cutesy tunes put in though, the song on this cartoon was not a song at all, just a constant banging on a piano for a minute and a half before going to white noise for the remainder of the film.
It wasn't the jolly old Mickey we've come to love either, Mickey wasn't dancing, not even smiling, just kind of walking as if you or I were walking, with a normal facial expression, but for some reason his head tilted side to side as he kept this dismal look.

  Up until a year or two ago, everyone believed that after it cut to black and that was it. When Leonard Maltin was reviewing the cartoon to be put in the complete series, he decided it was too junk to be on the DVD, but wanted to have a digital copy due to the fact that it was a creation of Walt. When he had a digitized version up on his computer to look at the file, he noticed something.
The cartoon was actually 9 minutes and 4 seconds long. This is what my source emailed to me, in full (he is a personal assistant of one of the higher executives at Disney, and acquaintance of Mr. Maltin himself):

  "After it cut to black, it stayed like that until the 6th minute, before going back into Mickey walking. The sound was different this time. It was a murmur. It wasn't a language, but more like a gurgled cry. As the noise got more indistinguishable and loud over the next minute, the picture began to get weird. The sidewalk started to go in directions that seemed impossible based on the physics of Mickeys walking. And the dismal face of the mouse was slowly curling into a smirk.

  "On the 7th minute, the murmur turned into a bloodcurdling scream (the kind of scream painful to hear) and the picture was getting more obscure. Colors were happening that shouldn't have been possible at the time. Mickey's face began to fall apart. his eyes rolled on the bottom of his chin like two marbles in a fishbowl, and his curled smile was pointing upward on the left side of his face.
The buildings became rubble floating in midair and the sidewalk was still impossibly navigating in warped directions, a few seeming inconceivable with what we, as humans, know about direction."
 
  Mr. Maltin got disturbed and left the room, sending an employee to finish the video and take notes of everything happening up until the last second, and afterward immediately store the disc of the cartoon into the vault. This distorted screaming lasted until 8 minutes and a few seconds in, and then it abruptly cuts to the Mickey Mouse face at the credits of the end of every video with what sounded like a broken music box playing in the background.

  This happened for about 30 seconds, and whatever was in that remaining 30 seconds I haven't been able to get a sliver of information about. From a security guard working under me who was making rounds outside of that room, I was told that after the last frame, the employee stumbled out of the room with pale skin saying "Real suffering is not known" seven times before speedily taking the guard's pistol and offing himself on the spot.

  The thing I could get out of Leonard Maltin was that the last frame was a piece of Russian text that roughly said "the sights of hell bring its viewers back in". As far as I know, no one else has seen it, but there have been dozens of attempts at getting the file on rapidshare by employees inside the studios, all of whom have been promptly terminated of their jobs.

  Whether it got online or not is up for debate, but if rumors serve me right, it's online somewhere under "suicidemouse.avi". If you ever find a copy of the film, I want you to never view it, and to contact me by phone immediately, regardless of the time. When a Disney Death is covered up as well as this, it means this has to be something huge.

  The video itself is not cursed, as I watched it all the way through and suffered no consequences.  However, upon interviewing my mother, she claimed to have watched the video described.

  She told me that everything about it was true...except for the ending. The video ended not with Russian text but Mickey Mouse hanging himself. She remembers thinking how messed up it was for a cartoon.

  However, I have no other proof apart from the words of my mother, so i can not be 100% sure this video exists.

  I recently talked to my mom about the Creepypasta Suicidemouse.avi. She was intrigued, and after reading the pasta she said 3 words that brought me both great joy and great shock.
  "I've seen this."

The Truth of Candle Cove

 

  Candle Cove is one of the most famous subjects for Creepypasta stories on the internet. Originating from a story written by cartoonist Kris Straub, the story has sparked a webwide phenomena, leading many to search for some proof of the shows existence. For those who are unaware, I have provided the story below.

Does anyone remember this kid’s show? It was called Candle Cove and I must have been 6 or 7. I never found reference to it anywhere so I think it was on a local station around 1971 or 1972. I lived in Ironton at the time. I don’t remember which station, but I do remember it was on at a weird time, like 4:00 PM.

YES! Okay I’m not crazy! I remember Pirate Percy. I was always kind of scared of him. He looked like he was built from parts of other dolls, real low-budget. His head was an old porcelain baby doll, looked like an antique that didn’t belong on the body. I don’t remember what station this was! I don’t think it was WTSF though.

Sorry to ressurect this old thread but I know exactly what show you mean, Skyshale. I think Candle Cove ran for only a couple months in ‘71, not ‘72. I was 12 and I watched it a few times with my brother. It was channel 58, whatever station that was. My mom would let me switch to it after the news. Let me see what I remember.  It took place in Candle cove, and it was about a little girl who imagined herself to be friends with pirates. The pirate ship was called the Laughingstock, and Pirate Percy wasn’t a very good pirate because he got scared too easily. And there was calliope music constantly playing. Don’t remember the girl’s name. Janice or Jade or something. Think it was Janice.

Thank you Jaren!!! Memories flooded back when you mentioned the Laughingstock and channel 58. I remember the bow of the ship was a wooden smiling face, with the lower jaw submerged. It looked like it was swallowing the sea and it had that awful Ed Wynn voice and laugh. I especially remember how jarring it was when they switched from the wooden/plastic model, to the foam puppet version of the head that talked.

That’s what the ship always told Percy when there was a spooky place he had to go in, like a cave or a dark room where the treasure was. And the camera would push in on Laughingstock’s face with each pause. YOU HAVE… TO GO… INSIDE. With his two eyes askew and that flopping foam jaw and the fishing line that opened and closed it. Ugh. It just looked so cheap and awful. You guys remember the villain? He had a face that was just a handlebar mustache above really tall, narrow teeth.

That wasn’t the villain, the puppet with the mustache. That was the villain’s sidekick, Horace Horrible. He had a monocle too, but it was on top of the mustache. I used to think that meant he had only one eye.But yeah, the villain was another marionette. The Skin-Taker. I can’t believe what they let us watch back then.

jesus h. christ, the skin taker. what kind of a kids show were we watching? i seriously could not look at the screen when the skin taker showed up. he just descended out of nowhere on his strings, just a dirty skeleton wearing that brown top hat and cape. and his glass eyes that were too big for his skull. christ almighty.

yeah i think so. rememer his mouth didn’t open and close, his jaw just slid back and foth. i remember the little girl said “why does your mouth move like that” and the skin-taker didn’t look at the girl but at the camera and said “TO GRIND YOUR SKIN”

I’m so relieved that other people remember this terrible show!
I used to have this awful memory, a bad dream I had where the opening jingle ended, the show faded in from black, and all the characters were there, but the camera was just cutting to each of their faces, and they were just screaming, and the puppets and marionettes were flailing spastically, and just all screaming, screaming. The girl was just moaning and crying like she had been through hours of this. I woke up many times from that nightmare. I used to wet the bed when I had it.

Oh God. Yes. The little girl, Janice, I remember seeing her shake. And the Skin-Taker screaming through his gnashing teeth, his jaw careening so wildly I thought it would come off its wire hinges. I turned it off and it was the last time I watched. I ran to tell my brother and we didn’t have the courage to turn it back on.

i visited my mom today at the nursing home. i asked her about when i was littel in the early 70s, when i was 8 or 9 and if she remebered a kid’s show, candle cove. she said she was suprised i could remember that and i asked why, and she said “because i used to think it was so strange that you said ‘i’m gona go watch candle cove now mom’ and then you would tune the tv to static and juts watch dead air for 30 minutes. you had a big imagination with your little pirate show.”

Back in the early 1970's, when my uncle, Andre Albright was a kid,
he had appeared in two episodes of the second season of Candle Cove.
A show that lives in infamy on the internet.

Many say it never existed, I didn't believe it existed at first
but I mentioned it to my uncle during a discussion of modern horror stories.
When I described the show, his jaw dropped as if nostalgia had blown up in his face.
He was surprised when he found out the show had
a huge cult following on the internet and gave me this photo from the set to scan and upload to the internet.
He told me everything.
He said that this was the lookout platform on the Laughingstock.

He says he has some other photos but they are packed away and says he'll get them for me when he can
so expect more real soon.

Alright. Sorry it’s been awhile but I’ve been busy with the holidays and all.
This is another photo that was apparently on the set of an episode of Candle Cove.
It’s a wooden stand. My uncle said it was supposed to be a giant sea serpent used in an episode.
He said its eyes lit up and its huge gaping mouth had fog machines inside.
The mouth was big enough for two grown men to get inside.

Not only was my uncle in a few episodes but he was also friends with the girl who played Janice.
The studio wanted to make him one of the leads of the show but my uncle left the set, claiming that things started to get “too weird.”
Most of the actors were local stage talents who got paid 200 dollars a day to be on the show.
Despite Janice being around 9 years old, she was played by a 13 year old.
Percy was apparently a live actor and not a puppet like many people say online and he was like an overprotective father to Janice.

There's only one more photo left.
Yeah, I'm sorry. My uncle hasn't been able to find the others anywhere.

 And now we finally have the final photo. This one shows parts of an unfinished puppet on the show. No, it’s not the Skin-Taker. It’s one of the puppets from the birthday episode.

I’ve written down everything my uncle remembers about the show.
It really contradicts the info found on the internet.
A lot of people say the show was “haunted” and that it was canceled for some disturbing reasons.
The creator going missing/suicide or some stupid crap. Barely any of that information is true.
Most of it is just made up by people on the internet trying to be scary.

Yes, there was once a kids show called Candle Cove,
Yes, the plot was the same as described on the internet,
No, there was nothing haunted about it and it wasn't canceled for any (nonexistent) haunts.

The show was canceled for two main reasons.
1. The show wasn't getting the intended audience, children. Most fans of the show were teenagers.
2. The studio received angry letters and even death threats from angry parents who hated the reference to child abuse and cannibalism.

Anyone heard of an old TV show called Land of the Lost?
It was similar but with a lower budget and pirates.

So now you know my uncle's story.
Perhaps it explained a few things.
